A developer used GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude Code for 30 days on real production projects including React/Next.js frontend, Python FastAPI backend, Solidity smart contracts, and Terraform infrastructure code. The study evaluated code completion, complex refactoring, debugging, security review, multi-file changes, documentation, test generation, and learning new frameworks. Each tool showed strengths: Copilot excelled at fast inline completions for boilerplate code, Cursor was best for multi-file editing and balanced speed and quality, and Claude Code provided deep reasoning for complex debugging, security reviews, and comprehensive documentation. The combined use of Cursor and Claude Code was recommended for maximizing productivity and code quality.
